The Environment Agency is the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales.

We were asked to design and implement a new identity that could be used consistently across various printed materials for the introduction of new EU regulations, which would work alongside the existing Environment Agency brand.

We produced items such as campaign literature, direct mail and an interactive PDF and these various items had to promote the Environment Agency as an efficient regulator, a source of informative advice and show the transparent way it works, whilst also creating a strong visual identity for the Landfill Regulations. The aim was to help make a very complex subject easy to understand and give the reader direction as to where to go for further, more technical, information.

The significance of the knot-tied hanky was a device to promote remembering the new EU regulation, with its inspiration looking back to their historical use as memory aids. It was sent out to owners of landfills and journalists.
